A memory re-triggered

I just found a link to something called cluster ballooning that triggered an old memory. Years ago there was a news story about a guy named Larry Walters that tied a bunch of helium balloons to a lawn chair and ended up at 16,000 feet. His re-entry plan was to shoot the ballons with a BB pistol, which he dropped while still in the air. Fortunately he had shot enough balloons that he was decending, and ended up in some power lines. There's a lot of good information on his flight here.

Although I hope I have better sense than to do something like that (there's really no evidence that I do!), I remember thinking how cool it was that someone would do something that crazy just for the adventure of it...he just wanted to fly.
